An Educare Approach to Discipling Children
Sai Baba has used a clever play on words in deploying the word “Educare” to describe the essence of his Education in Human Values programme. At one level, we can think of Educare as meaning a ‘caring education’ in which parents, teachers and children all show care for each other.
At a deeper level, Educare is a Latin word meaning to “bring out that which is within”. The essence of Educare is to help children to bring out the values that are already inherent within all of them.
According to Sathya Sai Baba, "Disciplinary rules have to be well thought out and adapted to the age group they want to correct. The atmosphere must be so charged that obedience to discipline comes automatically, with full heart. Such discipline will shape good leaders for the nation.”
